This type of study is called a longitudinal birth cohort.\n\nC-GULL is the first dedicated birth cohort in Liverpool. We are inviting all women aged 16 and over, pregnant with their first child, being cared for at Liverpool Women’s Hospital to take part. We want to involve all women and partners, where appropriate.\n\nTaking part is voluntary and you can change your mind and leave at any time. If you decide not to take part, you will still receive the normal standard of care. If you do decide to take part, you will be asked to sign a consent form.\n\nYou will be invited to visit the research centre at Liverpool Women’s Hospital between 12–16 weeks and 32–36 weeks of your pregnancy. At each visit you will see a research midwife and be asked some questions, have some measurements taken and give a small sample of blood, urine and hair. When you have your child we will also like to take a sample of your placenta and some of the blood from your child’s cord.\n\nShortly after birth we will ask if we can measure your baby’s body composition using a special incubator called a Pea Pod. This does not take long and should not cause any pain or discomfort to your baby.\n\nWe will contact you again when your baby is three months old and again at 12 months of age. At 24 months we will invite you back to the research centre with your toddler so that we can catch up with you and see how your baby is growing and developing.\n\nIn the future we will invite you to take part in follow-up assessments to discuss your child’s health and development. These assessments are voluntary.\n\nWe will also ask permission to request information from the NHS and other government departments. All information and samples collected as part of the study will be stored legally and securely. If you withdraw from the study no further samples or data will be collected.\n\nTaking part in this study will not put you or your baby at risk of harm and your normal maternity care will not be affected. Taking part will mean that your child’s development is tracked throughout their childhood, teenage years and beyond.\n\nWe believe that taking part in this study will help us to understand what can improve the lives and health of children and their families in the Liverpool City Region.\n\nIf you would like to take part or have any questions about this study, please contact a member of the research team.",{"type":135,"sectionSettings":136,"slides":137},"morph_text_slider",{"textAlign":87},[138,145,150],{"narrowScreenImage":139,"wideScreenImage":142},{"url":140,"width":141,"height":96},"cgull-work-slider-mobile-1-2x.jpg",1200,{"url":143,"width":144,"height":96},"cgull-work-slider-desktop-1-2x.jpg",1920,{"narrowScreenImage":146,"wideScreenImage":148},{"url":147,"width":141,"height":96},"cgull-work-slider-mobile-2-2x.png",{"url":149,"width":144,"height":96},"cgull-work-slider-desktop-2-2x.png",{"narrowScreenImage":151,"wideScreenImage":153},{"url":152,"width":141,"height":96},"cgull-work-slider-mobile-3-2x.png",{"url":154,"width":144,"height":96},"cgull-work-slider-desktop-3-2x.png",{"type":156,"sectionSettings":157,"settings":160,"text":163,"cards":164},"text_and_cards",{"textAlign":121,"sectionLabel":158,"customClass":159},"Test WORK cards","work-cards-section",{"alignCardContent":87,"showAllOnLoad":33,"categoriseWhenShowAll":33,"wholeClickable":18,"headerLevel":161,"cardTheme":110,"numberedCards":33,"maxCardsPerRow":162,"isFilterable":33,"headerFontSize":161,"themeWholeCard":18,"alignCards":121},"3","4","## Similar Work",[165,176,184,191],{"type":166,"imgPosition":89,"strapline":167,"title":168,"image":169,"link":173,"categories":175,"summary":112},"card_image_text","University of Birmingham","ELSA Study",{"url":170,"width":171,"height":172},"morph-work-card-elsa-2x.png",720,460,{"url":174},"\u002Fwork\u002Felsa-study",[50,60,55],{"type":166,"imgPosition":89,"strapline":177,"title":178,"image":179,"link":181,"categories":183},"University of Oxford","CTT Study",{"url":180,"width":171,"height":172},"morph-work-card-ctt-2x.png",{"url":182},"\u002Fwork\u002Fctt-study",[50,65],{"type":166,"imgPosition":89,"strapline":177,"title":185,"image":186,"link":188,"categories":190},"SCIENCE Trial",{"url":187,"width":171,"height":172},"morph-work-card-science-2x.png",{"url":189},"\u002Fwork\u002Fscience-trial",[70,65,60],{"type":166,"imgPosition":89,"strapline":177,"title":192,"image":193,"link":195,"categories":197},"ACL STARR Study",{"url":194,"width":171,"height":172},"morph-work-card-acl-starr-2x.png",{"url":196},"\u002Fwork\u002Facl-starr-study",[50,60,55],{"type":199},"morph_next_steps",{"pageTitle":201,"pageDescription":201},"Morph work -
