Explainer Animation

City Deal

City Deal is a partnership of multiple councils and authorities in the North West. It is a £430m infrastructure delivery fund and investment programme.

Project

The brief was to create a 2D animation to explain the City Deal project in a informative but fun and engaging way.

With a running time of under two minutes there was a lot of quite dry practical information and facts and figures that needed to be communicated in a short space of time.

One of the main challenges was finding a way to illustrate the wider long-term benefits to the general public. It’s all very well talking about major transport infrastructure improvements, housing developments, employment sites and delivering thousands of new jobs and homes when all people are seeing is road works!

We feel we struck a good balance between accurate information, for example, the painstaking drawing of the actual road network combined with the more fun side of the animation like the workman digging up the road.

As well as continuing to use the animation Lancashire County Council have gone on to use illustrated elements from the animation in other areas of their marketing

Raised awareness of City Deal project
Collection of illustrated elements to use across other media

Lancashire County Council and other partners were extremely happy with the result.

Outcomes

Morph produced a short video animation on behalf of the Preston, South Ribble & Lancashire City Deal, which proved an excellent way of telling a simple story about the project. Lancashire County Council and other partners were extremely happy with the result.
